FUJITSU LAPTOP BATTERY PRODUCT RECALL
Computer manufacturer Fujitsu is recalling 287,000 laptop batteries manufactured by Sony because of a potential fire risk.
This latest recall of Sony manufactured laptop batteries means that more than 7 million laptops manufactured by Toshiba, Lenovo, Dell, Sony and Apple have now been affected .
The first recalls began back in August 2006 with warnings that lithium-ion batteries manufactured by Sony could overheat or catch fire.
Fujitsu have made the following statement, "As of this time, we are not aware of any instances of battery pack problems involving Fujitsu notebook PCs similar to those that have been announced by Dell and Apple Computer.
"Nevertheless, in response to Sony's announcement, we have decided to cooperate with Sony's voluntary battery replacement program. "
