NOKIA RECALL 46 MILLION MOBILE PHONE BATTERIES
Nokia has offered to replace 46 million mobile phone batteries following fears of overheating whilst charging.
The recall affects the BL-5C battery manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006 by Matsushita.
Another 250 million battereis made by other manufacturers for Nokia are unaffected. Nokia said there have been 100 reports of overheating affecting over 50 different phone models.
Nokia said there have been no reports of "serious injuries or property damage" as a result of overheating.
A website has been launched by Nokia telling customers how to check their existing batteries at http://www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement/en/
